Our Technology

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology uses a non-detergent/enzymatic method (PrisTINE process) for preparing Scaffold (CDS) which has low immunogenicity. The CDS prepared by this method promotes faster healing of skin excision and burn wounds in rabbit. The technology has been detailed in an Indian Patent. The CDS has other utilities, it can be used for fabricating corneal grafts, hernia repair grafts and many similar applications. The technology is protected by three Indian patent applications. Further, four Indian patent applications have been filed on the use of these scaffolds as superficial skin-graft (eg.: excision/burn wounds), deep tissue/muscle graft (hernia repair graft), cornea repair-graft and a bioartificial skin-graft substitute.
